From Drawing to Patch: How We Turned Kid Sketches Into 4 New Patches

From Drawing to Patch: How We Turned Kid Sketches Into 4 New Patches

There’s nothing more creative than a kid’s imagination - and this time, we decided to bring it to life (literally!).

We teamed up with the Huebner kids - Eleanor, Ava, Greta, and Gus - to turn their original drawings into real Parker Kids patches. The result? Four brand-new designs that capture their unique personalities and creativity, now ready to stick, swap, and style on all your favorite PK gear.

Watch the full process below:

Step 1: The Big Reveal - Telling the Kids

Step 1: The Big Reveal - Telling the Kids

It all started with an idea: what if Parker Kids’ next patch collection came from real kids?

We surprised the Huebner crew with the challenge - each got to dream up their very own patch. The only rule? It had to reflect something they love. The reactions were priceless (and the sketches, even better).

Step 2: Sketches in Action

Sketches in Action

Armed with markers and crayons, each kid got to work:

  • Ava imagined a cozy stack of books (with a cat on top, of course).
  • Eleanor drew a horse inspired by her love for animals.
  • Greta created a cheerful PB&J sandwich - complete with arms and legs!
  • Gus went bold with a dinosaur.

Their drawings were full of color, personality, and story - everything we love at Parker Kids.

Step 3: Turning Art Into Design (with Emily!)

Step 3: Turning Art Into Design (with Emily!)

Next, our designer Emily took the kids’ sketches and turned them into digital patch concepts.

Each design meeting felt like a mini creative workshop - the kids gave feedback, made suggestions, and saw how their art evolved into embroidered form.
From choosing between “cat or no cat” to deciding on color details, every choice reflected their original vision.

Step 4: Finalizing the Designs

After reviewing all the options, the kids gave their final approvals (with a few adorable requests):

  • Eleanor asked for her horse to be colored light gray, just like in her drawing.
  • Greta picked the walking PB&J, saying it looked “just like her drawing.”
  • Gus went with the dino under a sunset, and Ava stuck with his book-stack cat combo.

Every detail stayed true to their original art.

Step 5: Producing the Patches

Once the designs were finalized, it was time to bring them to life!

Our production team carefully embroidered each one, matching thread colors, and even texture details to capture the kids’ creativity in patch form.

When the first samples arrived, we couldn’t wait to show them off!

Step 6: The Patches Are Here!

Step 6: The Patches Are Here!

From sketchbook to backpack - the Huebner Kid Patches are officially here!

Each design celebrates a spark of childhood imagination, now made to stick on Parker Kids BackpacksBelt Bags, Lunch Boxes, and Hats.

Meet the new patches:

They’re colorful, creative, and full of personality - just like the kids who designed them.
